Usage Agreement

Simple Hosting Solutions is the parent brand behind 'Floppynet' and 'SolarHost' and is operated by Tom Williamson as a Sole Trader. All correspondance should be directed here, a postal address is also available on request.

All customers agree to be bound by the following terms of usage:

Now, just a few key points in relation to our hosting... These accounts (via any of our brands) may not to be used to host a collection of mp3s, audio's, videos, anime, .rar files, Warez and similar files, or to backup your computer or another source. They may not be used for general storage of any type. All content stored on an account must be directly used on the Internet by the website associated with that account. These accounts may not be used as a download distribution point for your software or media. They are to be used for standard web practices only.

This means that all content stored on an account must be used for "acceptable" website use. “Unacceptable” usage is anything that a shared server would not be able to provide under standard circumstances.

Coventry University Students and Staff

Due to a conflict of interests we regret to say we are not able to sell our services to employees or students from Coventry University. The owner of Simple Hosting Solutions is also Employed by CUE Ltd and as such could pose a conflict of interest if customers are sought from this organisation. Customers who are discovered to have joined Simple Hosting Solutions whilst being active within the University will be asked to sign a disclaimer stating that they joined indirectly and not as any form of promotion within the establishment.

Complete Management Solutions

Simple Hosting Solutions offer a premium service for clients who would like their overall account management to be handled by the experts. This service is offered at a premium rate as advertised online. The service includes account maintenance as and when required subject to a fair usage policy. If a particular client is seen to be utilising the service excessively they may be asked to work with Simple Hosting Solutions in a more co-operative manor in order to allow an equally high level of service to all clients. This will be discussed with clients as and when necessary. If it is deems necessary the terms may change to include information of a limited number of changes acceptable per month.

Acceptable Use Policy

The Internet is a powerful information and entertainment tool, we would expect our customers to use the Internet with respect, courtesy, and responsibility, giving due regard to the rights of other Internet users.

Our acceptable use policy is actively and strictly enforced.

Offending content or users are removed from our network, usually as soon as they are discovered, although we will always inform you when and why any action has been taken.

Common sense is the best guide as to what is considered acceptable use, however the following are unacceptable uses.

Illegality: In any form, including but not limited to the unauthorised distribution or copying of copyrighted software or other data, harassment, fraud, or trafficking in obscene material.

Undesirable Content: Certain types of content are not permitted on our network. We do not host adult content of any description. We reserve the right to determine what constitutes adult content and what does not. Content relating to Hacking, Cracking, Warez and IRC is not allowed. Software downloads may only be hosted if you are the writer and copyright owner of the software, all other software including freeware, shareware and trial software is forbidden. Audio and video downloads may only be hosted if you are the creator and copyright owner of the work.

Bulk Email: The use of our network to send bulk email whether opt-in or otherwise, and the use of bulk email to promote a site on our network is strictly forbidden.

SPAM: We take SPAM offences very seriously at Simple Hosting Solutions, any accounts found sending spam or phishing will be terminated. We offer spam prevention software with all packages to help reduce spam, it is the users responsibility to ensure, to their best ability, that their account remains spam free.

Misuse Of Resources: Including but not limited to employing applications which consume excessive CPU time, memory or storage space. Chat/IRC, web proxy and mailing list scripts are not allowed on our network under any circumstances. Streaming media can be a drain on web server resources and as such is not allowed. CGI based message forums which use flat file databases are often found to use excessive system resources, to avoid disappointment please use a PHP/ASP message forum. The use of web cam applications which maintain a constant FTP connection uploading an image at regular intervals is forbidden.

If you are unsure about content you intend to place on our network, please check with us before you do. We reserve the right to determine what constitutes acceptable use.

You can sign up for the service online here By making a payment through our secure server, you will be deemed to fully agree, accept and understand these Terms and Conditions and will comply with all related policies, including the Data Protection Policy and Terms of Service Policy.

When we have processed your online sign-up registration, and received any charges that are due from you, we will then provide you with the relevant Service. The right to use the service is personal to you or your employees. You must advise us if you suspect that someone is using your account or has knowledge of your personal details.

If we think there is likely to be a breach of security or misuse of the service, we may:

(a) Change your password and then notify you of this change; and/or
(b) Suspend username and password access to the Service.
(c) Remove any infringing files.
(d) Terminate an account and instant removal of its files.

If you think someone knows about your username or password and they are not authorized to use it, or if any password is being or is likely to be used in an unauthorized way, it is your responsibility to inform us immediately.

You are responsible for your content, this includes the responsibility to keep a backup whether by conducting a backup process on our server using your control panel, or a hard copy on your machine. Simple Hosting Solutions are in no way liable for loss of property or content due to situations out of our control, this includes (but is not limited to) loss of business due to down-time out of our control.

Just for confirmation we adhere to standard digital file sizes:

1,024 Byte = 1 Kilobyte (KB)
1,024 Kilobyte (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)
1,073,741,824 Bytes = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1,024 Megabyte (MB)

Contracts

We like to keep things simple so here's all we ask:

You give us 3 weeks (or as much as possible) notice before cancelling an account. Refunds are not usually issued but will be discussed on an individual basis.

.uk domains are registered for 2 years, so after 12 months we will simply ask you to pay for the package price excluding domain. At 24 months the process repeats.

Affiliates:

We invite you to become an affiliate. The rate is set at £3.50 prt new hosting order and we reserve the right to change or cancel this rate as we deem suitable. You can keep a track of all earnings online and contact us when you wish to make a withdrawal... We will allow you to use your affiliate savings towards future hosting as part or full payment - no worries!
