How can I transfer my website / email to Solar Host?

The simplest way of moving your website and emails to us is as follows:

1) Order your hosting from www.solarhost.co.uk

2) Upload your website files via FTP to the new SolarHost account

3) Create email accounts in our online control center (you need to create one for each account you have with your existing provider)

4) Configure your email client for the email accounts you have just created.

At this point your website and emails are still being delivered through your existing supplier. You have configured your new hosting so that once the switch is made it is seamless with no downtime!

Now we are ready to make the switch!!

5) Log in to your domain name supplier and change the DNS records (see here for instructions)

6) Contact your old hosting company and tell them you want to terminate your contract. IF THEY ALSO PROVIDE YOUR DOMAIN NAME YOU MUST TELL THEM YOU WANT TO KEEP THE DOMAIN ACTIVE!!!

After 3 hours or so the switch will be made via DNS and all traffic will be coming through the eco-friendly Solar Host servers. You can now delete the old email accounts from your email software.
