How it works...

Solar Host is proud to operate from one of the worlds most environmentally friendly data centers in the world. The California based data-center is 100% solar powered and we don't pass the extra costs associated with going greener to our clients! Plus the DC was featured in Inc. Magazines' Top 50 Green Companies and is the first and currently the only public data center member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The data center we operate from runs in the following way:
Power is generated using 120 solar panels located on two large sets of arrays (1), one on each side of our data center. The solar panel arrays face due south, which will generate the most possible amount of electricity. The power from the solar panels is DC, which is converted to AC through ' sunny boy' inverters (2). After it is converted using the inverters it is stored in our battery bank (3). It then leaves our battery bank and runs through out our data center and offices including the air conditioners (4). In case of an emergency we can get power from our generator but it is not necessary.
By using battery banks (3) we are able to store months worth of energy so our clients can be confident that services are not interrupted at night or in winder months.
According to BP Solar, the data center we are members of, will eliminate the production of: 19,890 pounds of Carbon Dioxide (CO2/GHG) per year, 5.9 pounds of Nitrous Oxide (NOX/smog) per year, and 0.45 pounds of Sulfur Dioxide (SO4/acid rain) per year. This is the equivalent of planting 3.5 acres of trees per year or driving a vehicle for 24,671 miles per year.
Solar Host is privileged to be members of this world class data centers and our users can be confident that every effort is made to ensure our hosting is developed as eco-friendly as possible.
